- 2 large eggs, separated
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3 tablespoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon cardamom or cinnamon
- ½ cup Crystal unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups Crystal buttermilk
- Juice and zest of 1 lemon
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 cup Crystal heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup Crystal sour cream
- ½ cup lingonberry jam
- 2 cups sliced strawberries
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- Nonstick baking spray

Step 1
Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.

Place egg whites in a large bowl or stand mixer. Beat until stiff peaks form. Transfer to a small bowl. -

Add flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cardamom to the mixer. Stir together. Add butter, buttermilk, lemon juice, and vanilla. Mix just until a smooth batter is formed. Fold in the egg whites. -

Spray waffle iron with baking spray. Add waffle batter and cook according to manufacturer's instructions. -

In a clean stand mixer or large bowl, beat whipping cream until soft peaks form. Add lemon zest and sour cream, fold until light and fluffy. -

Top waffles with whipped sour cream, a dollop of lingonberry jam, and fresh strawberries. Drizzle with maple syrup, if desired.
