Leche Poleada

Leche poleada is a traditional Salvadoran dessert, similar to a creamy custard made with milk, cornstarch, sugar, and cinnamon. This simple yet comforting dish is often enjoyed at family gatherings or as a homemade treat. Passed down through generations, it evokes a sense of warmth and nostalgia.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Crystal Whole Milk
  • 9½ cups cornstarch
  • 6 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Cinnamon powder
  • Raisins

Directions

  • Step 1

    In a pot, pour whole milk, sugar (more or less sugar can be added to your liking), corn starch, and one cinnamon stick. Heat the pot on medium, and stir with a wooden spoon.

  • Step 2

    Continue to stir the pot until it boils. Once it boils, continue to stir for another 5-7 minutes.

  • Step 3

    To serve, place your poleada in a bowl or mug. Place cinnamon power and raisins on top, and enjoy!
