A Love Letter To Whole Milk
As California’s oldest dairy, we’ve always believed milk brings families together, nourishes growing bodies, and makes the little moments a little more delicious. With February being the month of love, we wanted to share why we make milk in the first place, and why we love “going whole.”
Love at First Sip
While there’s a special place in our hearts for every one of our milks, there’s something undeniably comforting about Whole Milk.
It’s a favorite among families and many of our own employees. Its fresh taste and rich and creamy texture have a sneaky way of becoming ritual.
Whole milk goes far beyond a cold, satisfying glass straight from the fridge or your every day bowl of cereal. Use it to whip up homemade chocolate pudding for a nostalgic Valentine’s Day snack, bake it into cinnamon coffee cake to treat your special someone to breakfast-in-bed, master your morning latte art—we believe in you—stir into a cup of hot cocoa for a cozy night in, or pair it with your favorite cookie because if you know, you know... ;)
Why Whole Is Back
Recent updates to the USDA Dietary Guidelines have renewed dairy’s central role in a balanced, nutrient-rich diet. The guidelines encourage Whole Milk and 2% Milk in particular because they’re an excellent source of healthy fats, high-quality protein, calcium, and essential vitamins with no added sugar—just pure and simple.
That’s why there’s growing momentum around bringing Whole and 2% Milk back into schools. Students get the same fresh and creamy taste at school as they do at home. When kids love the taste, they’re more likely to drink it, which means more protein-packed fuel for brain and bone health, learning and play.
Nutrition isn’t one-size-fits-all, and that’s something the USDA Dietary Guidelines continue to emphasize. It’s all about building healthy eating patterns and embracing real foods that work for you. So whether it’s Whole, 2%, Lactose-Free, and, yes, even Chocolate, there’s room for different milk choices depending on your lifestyle, taste preferences, and nutritional needs.
Where the Love Comes From
Love has been at the heart of what we do since 1901—love for our cows, love for our local dairy community, and love for crafting real high-quality milk. We remain committed to ensuring love shows up in every carton.
This month, or maybe all year long, we hope you’ll join us in raising a glass to the milks that make so many meaningful moments possible.
Cheers to savoring every sip!
