Throughout American history, Hispanic Americans have been among the most significant contributors to our country's culture. That's why we're proud to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month every fall. We would like to extend a wholehearted thanks to our Hispanic partners, employees, customers and consumers for bringing our products to kitchen tables throughout the community.
Since 1988, the month between September 15th and October 15th has been designated as National Hispanic Heritage Month in the U.S. From the very beginning, its purpose has been the same: To celebrate Hispanic Americans’ enduring contributions to all aspects of American society. In the words of California Rep. Esteban Torres, who introduced the legislation that led to the official designation of National Hispanic Heritage Month, “We want the public to know that we share a legacy with the rest of the country, a legacy that includes artists, writers, Olympic champions, and leaders in business, government, cinema, and science.”
Acknowledging this legacy is what National Hispanic Heritage month is all about. For many Americans, honoring shared history is a great excuse to gather family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones together for quality time and conversation. When you can get multiple generations in one place talking about their lives, everyone is bound to learn something new—about themselves, their family, and their community.
And of course, whenever you get people together, you’re going to need food—and plenty of it. To honor National Hispanic Heritage Month, we created three brand-new recipes that are perfect for a weeknight family dinner, a neighborhood block party, and any celebration in between:
Creamy Camarones a la Diabla (Diablo Shrimp)
This recipe smothers sweet, tender shrimp in a succulent—and spicy!—tomato-chile cream sauce, with a side of fluffy white rice to soak it all up.
Creamy Chipotle Spaghetti
Smoky chipotles in adobo bring heat and a little Mexican-inspired flair to a classic creamy tomato spaghetti dish. It’s everything you could want on a cool fall evening.
Tri-Color Enchiladas
Two different enchilada sauces—salsa verde and creamy salsa roja—plus a stripe of sour cream turn a plate of chicken enchiladas into a Mexican flag-inspired centerpiece.
No matter how you choose to honor Hispanic American heritage this month, one thing’s for sure: Everyone will be eating well.
