Celebrating 2024 North Coast Section Scholar-Athlete Award Winners

Congratulations to the 2024 Foundation Scholarship and Merv Harris Scholarship Award winners! These students represent some of the hardest working high school student-athletes and sports journalists, demonstrating academic excellence, leadership, and good citizenship (see the full list of students below).

The Foundation Scholarship recognizes and rewards student athletes who balance academic achievement, athletic participation and service to community. A total of at least six $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to three female and three male student athletes. Additional scholarships may be awarded based on available funds.

The Merv Harris Scholarship recognizes and rewards students in the area of sports journalism and sports photojournalism. $500 scholarships will be awarded to one student for sports journalism, and one student for sports photojournalism.

The applications for each of these awards show that many student athletes have been deeply involved in honors classes, extracurricular activities, held jobs and helped their families throughout high school.

Crystal Creamery has been a sponsor of the California Interscholastic Federation since 2012, providing both financial support for student athletes, and milk to fuel athletic performance and recovery.
